Lucy Traini

Lucy was born in Sicily in 1947.  She grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba and in 1966 moved to Vancouver.  She was involved in the arts from a very young age, winning awards at school and having her favourite picture bought by the school principal when she was only 12.

She has worked with charcoals, chalks, oil paints, water colors and acrylic.  She had very little time to pursue her love of the arts while raising a family and running two family businesses until she moved to Lions Bay where she has been living for the past 21 years.  At that time she became fascinated by pottery and has been participating in the Raku classes at the Gleneagles Community Centre in West Vancouver.  She says that “working with clay has become an obsession and I believe therapeutic for me.  Once I get a piece of clay in my hand, I forget about everything else for many hours.  I love the feel of clay, it’s like creation.”

Lucy continues to create objects of beauty for herself, family, friends and to sell to anyone that loves her work.  She has a studio and showroom in her home and some of her work is selling at an Interior Design Store in Vancouver.  She welcomes anyone who is interested in seeing her work.
